Hans Christian Andersen International Art Award Competition

【Competition Introduction】

The Hans Christian Andersen (International) Art Award was established by the Danish Committee for the Development of Culture and the Arts to commemorate Andersen's outstanding cultural and artistic achievements and to recognize the outstanding performance of artists around the world. The award is committed to promoting diversified art forms, inspiring the imagination of creators, and using Andersen's fairy tales as inspiration to pass on the spirit and value of classic fairy tales.

The winning works will be exhibited at an international art exhibition held in Denmark, allowing more people to appreciate these excellent creations and affirming the talents and efforts of young artists. Participants include teenagers aged 3 to 18 and young art lovers over 18 years old, mainly focusing on painting creation. The winners will not only have the opportunity to be invited to participate in the "Hans Christian Andersen International Art Exhibition" , but will also receive exclusive exhibition gift boxes and precious opportunities to participate in cultural exchange activities .

The Hans Christian Andersen (International) Art Award enjoys a high degree of recognition worldwide. It not only enhances the international perspective of participants, but is also widely recommended by schools and the education sector, becoming an important indicator for evaluating students' artistic accomplishments. The award has been launched in many countries, receiving about 100,000 entries each year. It is known as the "Oscar of the Youth Art World" , demonstrating its influence and authority .

The association is authorized by the conference to collect entries; the competition will be divided into two stages : the first stage is the selection of works ; the second stage , outstanding works that stand out will have the opportunity to go to Denmark for exhibition .

  • Adult group (birth year: 2004, 2003, 2001, 2000)
  • Adult Group (Year of Birth: 1987-1999)

【Work Requirements】

  • Painting theme: Friendship (can be taken from Andersen's fairy tales)
  • Type of work: Unlimited (watercolor, gouache, ink painting, oil painting, crayon drawing, sketch, cartoon, printmaking, comic, mixed painting, collage, etc.)
  • Size: A3 (international standard A3 paper, size is 297mm×420mm).

  • Coloring Skills: 25%
  • Storytelling of the painting: 25%
  • Content Creativity 25%

  • Personal name: HKD380/work
  • Group: HKD350/work (5 persons or more)

◈Personal Honor Award:

  • Awarded medals and certificates.

    ✧All awards and certificates do not require additional application or payment, and will be mailed out separately after each competition.
    ✧The certificate is issued by the Danish Andersen Culture and Art Development Committee, the Danish Andersen Society (Copenhagen) and the Executive Committee

◈Group Honor Award:

-Outstanding Training Award: Lead 5 students to participate (mentors or educational institutions nominate more than five trainees to participate in this competition)

-Outstanding Art Education Award: Lead 15 students to participate (the students nominated by the instructor won the first, second and third place in this final)

**The certificate is issued by the association

  • If the number of students participating in the organization is more than 20 , the instructor will be awarded the Hans Christian Andersen (International) Art Award Academic Guidance Award , and the organizer and the executive committee will issue an honorary certificate and confer the Andersen (International) Art Award Medal (Andersen Memorial Medal).

▌Certificate delivery arrangements▌

After the list of winners is announced, there will be one week for participants to check the name on the certificate . If you need to change it, please notify us within the deadline and we will provide free change service. Late changes will incur handling fees .

✧The certificate (with the participant’s name printed on it) and trophy or medal (without engraving) will be sent to the address provided on the registration form via SF Express within approximately 10 to 14 weeks after the announcement date, with freight collected.

✧No additional application or payment is required for the certificate, and the certificate for each competition will be sent out separately.

A world-renowned international art exchange event

As a world-renowned professional art event, the Hans Christian Andersen International Art Exhibition is an important part of the Hans Christian Andersen (International) Art Award. The exhibition is hosted by the Danish Andersen Cultural and Art Development Committee and the Danish Andersen Society (Copenhagen ) , and organized by the Andersen (International) Art Award Executive Committee.

  • International selection: All participating works are selected globally by an international team of artists to ensure the professionalism and authority of the exhibition.
  • Global Cultural Exchange: The exhibited works will be exhibited together with outstanding works from more than 10 countries including Denmark, Sweden, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, etc. , to promote the exchange and collision of transnational culture and art.

- Tentatively scheduled to be held in August 2025 (the final schedule will be notified by the Danish Andersen Culture and Art Development Committee in 2025)

- The exact extension date will be sent with the selected notification letter

2. Exhibition Venue Planning

1. **Official authorized venue**:

The final venue will be determined by the Danish Council for the Development of Hans Christian Andersen Culture and the Arts, with priority given to the following international venues:

- Copenhagen City Hall (Københavns Rådhus)

- Aarhus City Hall

- Odense Kulturhus

- Herning Kulturcenter

- Copenhagen Chinese Cultural Center (official cooperation venue)

2. **Regulatory Statement**:

- This fee is voluntary and will not affect the results of the first stage selection

Participation fee: HKD1,988 (including participation fee, second stage trophy, recommendation letter, participation certificate and commemorative trophy) - voluntary

The certificate is issued by the Danish Andersen Culture and Art Development Committee, the Danish Andersen Society (Copenhagen) and the Executive Committee

Hans Christian Andersen International Art Award Competition

Award Details:

-The exhibition certificate is the official certification document for exhibitors to obtain the Andersen International Art Exhibition, signed and sealed by the organizer and the chairman of the executive committee. The exhibition certificate will indicate the name of the exhibitor and the photo of the exhibition work, and each certificate has a unique certificate number.

- Letter of recommendation   Each candidate will receive a handwritten recommendation letter signed by Finn Andersen, Chairman of the Andersen Culture and Art Development Committee of the Kingdom of Denmark and former rotating chairman of the European Cultural Center Alliance . The letter will include the name of the exhibitor as a strong proof of the candidate's strong aesthetic education ability.

- Andersen International Art Exhibition Trophy In order to encourage participants, the Andersen International Art Exhibition invites influential artists to design the Andersen Trophy every year. While experiencing Andersen's culture, it is also of great collection value.

-Cultural Exchange Ambassador Medal In order to thank the exhibitors for their contribution to the cultural exchange between China and Denmark, the Andersen International Art Exhibition brings together domestic and international artists every year to create the China-Denmark Exchange Ambassador Medal with the theme of "Hans Christian Andersen's Fairy Tales".
